Here I attempt to answer any 'Frequently Asked Questions'. If you don't see the answer here, please use the Feedback page and I'll try and answer it, and perhaps add to the FAQ. Note that I can't answer issues/questions about specific Jaguar technical issues or parts here - for those I recommend you visit Jaguar Forums, which is a great resource for everything related to classic and modern Jaguars. I may see you over there!
Which Operating Systems does jPart Support?
jPart currently works in Windows 10 and Windows 7 32 bit (x86). There are different set up files for each version. Simply download the setup file and install it. It is possible it will work in 64bit Windows 7, but haven't had a chance to try it.

Does jPart include any ad-ware or malware or other bad stuff?
No. jPart does not include any form of adware, neither is there any attempt to monetize the searches it performs. Each release of jPart is scanned with multiple Antivirus products before being posted to this web site. This is the only place you should obtain a copy to be certain it has not been modified. Note that each release will be listed with it's SHA-256 Hash (you can use this to verify the copy of the installation file you have has not been modified using a standard tool in Windows - see here for details on how to check them.

Does jPart Share My details with anyone (or track my activity?)
No - jPart does not require you to enter any personal information, it does not store any data online or share it with anyone. The only time it will connect to the Internet is if you do a search for a part online (in which case it will launch a separate web-browser), or if you click the links in the 'Help About' dialog. If you use our Feedback page we do not require an email address (unless you want a reply), and if you do provide an email address we will not contact you except to reply. In the future we may add a mailing list you can sign up to get info on new releases, but that will be entirely voluntary.

How does jPart use my VIN?
No. There is a field to enter your VIN (when creating a 'favorite' car), but this data is ONLY saved in the local jPart database, and is never shared with anyone or used online. You can enter anything you want there, or leave it blank and the software will work. Also note that it is not used within the software (so it is important you choose the correct model for your car - jPart can't check that for you!

What is JEPC?
JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog) is older software developed by Jaguar and used in dealerships starting in the 80's to identify parts for their vehicles. Copies can be found online and on Ebay. It used Adobe Flash (which is no longer supported on Microsoft Windows for security reasons), and so it is difficult to run on modern PCs. Most of the files included with jPart are in plain text or standard images (JPG), so you can view them in standard Windows programs like 'Paint' or 'Notepad'. However, that is painful. jPart is simply an alternative viewer for the files that were included in JEPC - it doesn't use any part of the original software, neither does it include the data and image files that came with JEPC - you need to get those yourself
